What Sorsa records
Sorsa records basic account details, subject access, class enrolments, learning progress, submitted written responses, practice test attempts and teacher feedback. This information is used to show learning resources, track progress, support revision, and help teachers provide useful feedback.
1. Why this notice exists
This notice is written for students, parents, teachers and organisations. It explains what student data is collected when a student uses Sorsa and how that data supports learning.
2. Account data
When a student account is created, Sorsa may store the student’s first name, last name, email address and account identifier. Passwords are handled through Supabase authentication and are not visible to teachers or platform administrators.
3. Access data
Sorsa records which subjects or courses a student can access. Access may be provided through a purchase, subscription, trial, teacher/admin grant or another approved access method. Access records may include a start date, expiry date and access status.
4. Class data
If a student joins a class using a class code, Sorsa records the student’s class enrolment, class status and related course information. This allows teachers to view relevant submissions and provide feedback through the feedback hub.
5. Progress data
Sorsa may record when a student opens a resource, completes an activity, submits a response, completes a practice test, or progresses through a topic. This helps students continue learning and helps teachers understand where support may be needed.
6. Written response data
Students may submit written answers to revision questions. These responses are saved so an authorised teacher or administrator can review them and provide feedback.
7. Practice test data
Students may generate, save, complete and submit practice tests. Sorsa may store the selected topics, questions, student answers, status, submission time, review status and teacher feedback linked to those practice tests.
8. Teacher feedback data
When a teacher provides feedback, Sorsa stores the feedback, review status and review time. Students can view teacher feedback through My Work and through relevant notification prompts.
9. Who can see student data
A student can see their own data, including their subjects, classes, progress, submitted responses, practice tests and feedback. Authorised teachers and platform administrators can access student data where needed to manage learning, access, feedback and platform support.
10. What student data is not used for
Student data is not sold to advertisers. Sorsa is not designed to build advertising profiles of students. Sorsa is not intended to collect unnecessary sensitive student information.
11. Security and access controls
Sorsa uses account authentication and database access controls to limit who can access student data. Students should keep their passwords private and should not share accounts.
12. Questions or concerns
Students, parents, teachers or organisations can raise questions about student data by contacting the Sorsa owner or administrator. Requests may include questions about access, correction, deletion or how data is used.
