1. About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Sorsa about how the platform may be used. They apply when you create an account, add a student, log in or use Sorsa in any way. They are written in plain English on purpose, because an agreement you cannot read is not much of an agreement.

How we handle personal information is a separate matter, covered by the privacy policy and the student data notice. Those pages sit alongside these terms and carry the same notice version.

2. Sorsa has not launched yet

Sorsa is pre-launch. Lessons are not available yet. Any account created now is a trial or test account, made so we can check that signup, logins and the family view all work properly before real families arrive. Features may appear, change or disappear without notice while we are in this phase.

3. There is nothing to pay

There is no payment, subscription, licence or purchase of any kind on Sorsa at this time. We do not ask for card or bank details, we do not hold any, and no account has a billing cycle or an expiry date attached to it.

We expect to offer paid plans in the future. If that happens we will update these terms first, set out clearly what is being charged and what it covers, and no existing account will be charged without being told and given the choice.

4. Who holds the account

For a family, the parent or guardian is the account owner. You create your own account, give consent, and then add each child by first name and year level. We generate a username and a PIN for each child to log in with. Children under 16 do not sign themselves up.

A student aged 16 or over may hold their own account instead, with their own email address and password, and agrees to these terms in their own right.

By adding a child you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, and you accept these terms on their behalf as well as your own. There are no teacher accounts, classes, class codes or practice tests on Sorsa.

5. Looking after logins

Child PINs are shown to the parent once, at setup, and we do not keep a readable copy. Please write them down somewhere safe. Keeping your own password and your children's PINs private is your responsibility, and so is telling us promptly if you think someone else has got hold of them.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising how their children use Sorsa, in the same way you would with any other website or app your child uses at home.

6. One account per family

A family account is for that family. An independent student account is for that student. Please do not share a login with anyone outside your household, run one account for several families, or hand a student login to another student.

Each student should have their own login, which is also what makes their progress records actually mean something.

7. Acceptable use

Sorsa is for learning. When using it, please do not:

• try to access another person's account or another family's records
• scrape, bulk download, copy, republish or resell Sorsa content
• use automated tools to harvest content or to place unreasonable load on the platform
• attempt to get around access controls, exploit faults or interfere with security features
• submit unlawful, abusive, discriminatory or deliberately offensive material

8. Sorsa's content

The lessons, explanations, activities, questions, illustrations, design and code that make up Sorsa are our intellectual property, unless we say otherwise. You may use them for the personal educational purposes of the students on your account, including printing a page for your own child to work from.

You may not redistribute Sorsa content, publish it, sell it, use it to build a competing product, or use it to train a machine learning model. Work a student writes into Sorsa stays theirs. We only use it to run the platform and show progress, as described in the privacy policy.

9. What Sorsa is, and what it is not

Sorsa is an independent learning platform aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum. It is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, and it is not affiliated with any school or education department.

Sorsa supports learning at home. It does not replace a student's teacher, their school's requirements, or official curriculum and assessment documents. Where Sorsa and your school say different things, follow the school.

10. Availability and changes

Sorsa may be updated, interrupted or temporarily unavailable, and features may be added, changed or removed as the platform develops. We aim to keep it running and to give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability, particularly while we are pre-launch.

11. Our responsibility to you

We take care to make Sorsa accurate and useful, and we will fix mistakes when they are pointed out to us. That said, Sorsa is a study aid: we cannot promise particular marks, results or outcomes, and families remain responsible for checking school instructions and assessment requirements.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we limit it to supplying the service again or to a reasonable amount, whichever is appropriate.

12. Stopping, and suspension

You can stop using Sorsa at any time, and you can ask us to delete your family's account and records at any time. There is nothing to cancel and no notice period. How deletion works, and what we keep afterwards, is set out in the privacy policy.

We may suspend or close an account that is being misused, that breaches these terms, or where we need to protect other families or the platform itself. We will tell you why, and where the problem can reasonably be sorted out, we would much rather sort it out.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update this page and change the notice version at the top. Where a change is significant, and certainly before any charging begins, we will make sure account holders are told rather than leaving it for you to discover.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
